Company History

Control Solutions, Inc. was formed in 2002 by Jim Winkelman, resuming the family business that had been sold following his father’s retirement in 1998. Like his father and grandfather, Jim has been a union steamfitter from the start. He was indentured in Madison Steamfitters Local 394 – now part of Local 601 – in 1983.

We currently employ seven union steamfitters, covering all of southern Wisconsin. Our service technicians, as well as our project and office managers bring a tremendous amount of experience to our customers. We have 110 years of steamfitter experience!

With nearly 30 years in the industry, Jim has seen a lot of changes over the years. One thing that has been constant since before our present company was formed is Jim’s partnership with Schneider Electric and its predecessor companies. Control Solutions represents Schneider Electric’s Andover Continuum product line for HVAC and perimeter/access control, and Square D offering of variable frequency drives and lighting control.
